I like the photography I do because I like to capture the memory of the place as long with the actual image. I like taking photos of places rather than specific things because I think there is more to a place than there is to a specific part of that place.  When taking photos of a location I have been to, when I look at it I can bring myself to that place just looking at it, when I take photos of specific things I do not feel the same affect. 
                My dad telling me he used to take photos in Maine and develop them himself influenced me to try it for myself. So I decided to build a darkroom of my own and begin taking after him.I enjoy working with film more because I think you put more time and effort into a photo in the darkroom. The more time and effort I put into my photos the more I enjoy them. I looked at some of my dad’s old pictures and they were of Mountains he hiked or just scenery, that’s where I was influenced to take pictures of places or landscapes.Working with film has taught me a lot over the past couple of years. It made me appreciate photography more and made working with digital easier.
